Define your long variable MylongVar.
Define HighByte and LowByte at the same addresses as MyLongVar
ie :
unsigned long   MyLongVar
unsigned        LowByte @ &MylongVar
unsigned        HighByte @ &MylongVar+1

Loading the correct values into HighByte and LowByte will
automatically load it into MyLongVar
