You know, the guy's been dead twenty years but > he still hasn't lost his edge' > Mulder Guys: Can we all try to be a little more careful when we reply to messages posted to the list? I don't mean to single Lee McLaren out, but his message (which I've quoted in its entirety only in order to make this point) is a good example of an annoying trend that I've seen here in recent months: Quoting the entire message to which you're replying (INCLUDING, for God's sake, the original author's ASCII-art signature file), adding a one-sentence (or less) response, then appending your OWN large signature. I mean, just LOOK at Lee's message... It's 33 lines long, but his reply consists of only four words. If any of you feel that you MUST have a 10-line signature file, I guess there's nothing that the rest of us can do to change your mind (although I've never been able to figure out why anyone would post his cell-phone number to the internet), but PLEASE don't quote someone ELSE's 10-line sig in your responses... It just makes it harder for the rest of us to read them. Thanks. -Andy P.S. There's another issue, too... To wit: When a very basic question is posted to the list and you can reasonably assume that most of the other list-members know the answer, it's a good idea to read ALL your mail before replying, since it's likely that someone else has already responded. This is especially true if you live on the other side of the planet from the USA... Since most of the PICLIST members are here in the States, their questions are usually 8 hours old by the time you see them. P.P.S. Again, Lee, I don't mean to pick on you specifically; this is a general suggestion aimed at the entire list membership. === Andrew Warren - fastfwd@ix.netcom.com === Fast Forward Engineering - Vista, California === === Custodian of the PICLIST Fund -- For more info, see: === http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/2499/fund.html
