If you play with such thing, be very carrefull about isolation.
You need to have all the system powered by some battery to avoid:
        - possible electrocution problem,
        - interferences with other signal as the input signal is very
very low: micro-volt, use instrumentation amplifier (Maxim/Analog Device/
Burr Brown) with ultra low noise.

Then, to transmitt the signal there is many solutions such:
        - opto-coupler
        - specialized circuit (see Analog device/Burr Brown Data book)
