Ben: The 1996 Microchip Technical Library, Second Edition, contains a Microsoft Word for Windows file ("register.doc", maybe? I forget) that's been infected with the "Concept" virus. This virus isn't particularly malicious; it just prevents you from saving Word documents as ".doc" files (instead, you have to save them as Word "template" files, by giving them the extension ".dot"). Microsoft has a set of programs and Word macros (available on their web site) that protect against the Concept virus; if you use Microsoft Word, you should probably download them. Note that ONLY the "1996 Second Edition" CDROM has the virus; it does NOT exist in the Third Edition. Even if you use the Second Edition CDROM, you can only be affected by the virus if you open the "register.doc" (or whatever) file in Microsoft Word. Third Edition CDROMs are available from your Microchip rep. -Andy === Andrew Warren - fastfwd@ix.netcom.com === Fast Forward Engineering - Vista, California === === Custodian of the PICLIST Fund -- For more info, see: === http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/2499/fund.html
