I don't believe that excessive UV can damage the chips. I have
forgotten to turn off the eraser on Friday night and remembered on
the following Monday that it was still on. This has happened a
couple of times and these chips are still functional after hundreds
more erase program cycles. (Too cheap here to get an ICE).
