Hi Eric,

take a look at the LM1893 which will do the job. The only thing is that you
need to write your own network protocol to assure errorless transmission
since power lines are a very unreliable transmission medium due to all the
spikes and noise on it. The National datasheet explains this very well. You
can find it in pdf format on their web site:
    http://www.national.com

I don't have any experience with the chip though....
