Thus spake hoss karoly (timothy@BEKES.HUNGARY.NET): > maybe someone could start a little REVENGE on their account > or inform their sys admin > if anybody knows where to send it , we could ALL drop a line to > make him think Assuming you don't want to just hit the delete key, there is a good summary of what to do about spam at this URL: http://www.panix.com/uce.html In the case of the last spam message, the posting gave a return address at viponline.com - so postmaster@viponline.com is the first place to complain to. Secondly, the message originated from a dial-in line in the sprintnet.net domain - a `whois' request to rs.internic.net shows this is is owned by sprint.net, i.e. Sprint. The big ISPs like Sprint, MCI etc. tend to have special email addresses for reporting spam and other abuse - usually abuse@whereever, so in this case the place to report to is abuse@sprint.net. Make sure when complaining you send the FULL message including all headers so that its origin is clear. Remember that the return address is often fake. Note also that there are several ISPs whose business is bulk email - you won't get a response from them if you complain (but you can filter any messages from their domains - the URL above includes a list of domains to filter on). Just remember that spam, like junk mail, will always be with us - just ignoring it is the most efficient way of dealing with it. Above all, don't get hot under the collar - it's a waste of time and energy (I know, I used to!). Clyde -- Clyde Smith-Stubbs | HI-TECH Software, | Voice: +61 7 3354 2411 clyde@htsoft.com | P.O.
