I am about to buy a few PIC's for general experimentation and it seems like the 16C84 or 16F84 is popular. I have a PicStart 16B1 and 16C1 so my questions are these: Is Digikey the best place to call if I want 5 to 10 16C84's, give or take a few depending upon price? What should I expect to pay? Should I ask for a 16C84 or a 16F84? No point in buying something that is already going away. I have a project in mind for the first one, but it just needs 5 or 6 IO pins and timers or , at least, time delays, so it sounds like just about any PIC would do it. The 84 will probably be overkill, but I can optimize later. Thanks. Martin McCormick
