Hi, --------> Intro, my first post ------------> I am a poor UNIX SW programmer who've taken up PIC programming on a hobby basis. I've been on the list for a few month now and after having done the first steps (building an '84 burner, Mr. Tait's beginner circuit, the wake up on keystroke, etc) I am daring to speak up for the first time 8). First of all, I must say I find the PICLIST extremely informative, not least due to the high level of tolerance on the list, (e.g. the code protection thread, and the numerous replies from "old" members to newbie requests). So thanks for a good initiative Tory(?) (or whoever gave the kick) and I'm looking forward to contribute as I progress .. --------> Intro end ------------> My problem: I have done the circuit specified in AN555, but with an '84 instead og a '71 as specified, rewritten the code to use the TMR0 timer rather than the RTCC, removed the AD stuff, and so on. That is, rather than returning the Voltage readings to the PC host, I'm sending a simple lookup table value based on the command (0-4). Being a complete novice, are there any pitfalls/concerns when mapping the RS232 code from the '71 to the '84 ? I am using the CESSIM (shareware) simulator from ITU, (and I DID order the full version) as I find it very useful .. BTW, my vote for the Easy PIC'n book, its first class beginners stuff ..
