I'm using the normal CCS compiler with the windows version of MPLAB. As far as I'm concerned it is not really neccessary to have the special Windows/IDE environment if you can use it that way. There is one drawback though, and that is that the online help is not available if you compile under MPLAB. You can start the DOS version as a background task to get help, but then then compiler will not compile under MPLAB while the DOS version is also running in the background. :( Also, it seems that the PCML was written for Win3.1 rather than Win95 because the window that it opens while compiling displays the typical characteristic of programs written with something like Visual Basic that are not completely compatible with Win95. That is, you can not read everything that appears in the window. But it doesn't stop you from using it, and I expect that this will probably have been fixed by now. Maybe someone else who bought their PCM compiler very recently can tell... Anyway, you asked about people that use the intergrated environment which I'm not, so enough of my chitchat. I'm also curious to hear what people who actually gone to the extra expense of buying the IDE think of it. Hopefully there is someone that use it here on the Piclist.
