        Ok, I'll say _largely_ a 90's phenomenon.  As an opinion, I
        would say that even through the late 80's it was K&R C that
        was the 'reference' for C.  Note that I'm talking about
        programmers in the field, not necessarily guys who work for
        companies that write compilers. ;)
