Not in California, YIPEE! We just passed a law that said "if you get hurt
while committing a felony, tough!" Now if they die there are possible
criminal charges (manslaughter) but the liability issue is toast!

I enjoy dreaming up schemes to thwart thieves as much as the next guy, but
remember that you are liable for any injury that may result from your
theft deterent devices. For example, shutting off a car by remote control
once a thief is underway may result in an accident. You would be liable,
not the thief.
