There is no way to tell the PROMATE which processor is being used (I
     wish there WAS), except by manually selecting it.  Microchip
     representatives have make the excuse that the Intel file format
     doesn't allow for that capability.

     I believe PROMATE support is supposed to be added to MPLAB, but I
     haven't been able to get any answer from them as to when.  If you have
     a picstart-capable version of MPLAB, you'll see some grayed-out menu
     items under the "Picstart Plus" pulldown menu for PROMATE access.

Thanks for the help it makes things a lot easier. I will have to get
a newer manual mine doesnt mention __config. Now thats sorted is
there anyway of telling promate which processor is being used from within the
compiled source. Also will PROMATE ever be linked into MPLAB like
MPASM is ?
