I frequently fall back on it when MPLAB gets too confusing. What did your sti file look like? I haven't had any problems with it. In fact, I debug all my programs on it. I have yet to figure out how to do most of the stuff in MPLAB. As far as the zeros in the watch window are concerned, I remember someting about the port registers not being updated properly in the watch window. SO I would single step through your program and see if the values get to your program ok. The watch window may be the one at fault. If that is the case, then there is a way around it.. one which I seem to have trouble recollecting just now.
