Hi Les, > Do you know about a shareware PIC programmer that supports the 16F84? As far as I'm aware any programmer that supports the 16C84 will also support the 16F84. However, the code protection scheme works slightly differently and the power-up timer configuration bit is inverted. As long as you keep this in mind then you should be able to use 16C84 programmers (I guess they may say there is an error setting the config but you can probably ignore that). My own design should be able to program 16F84s but my software doesn't support it yet as I have no samples. The PIP-02 software from Silicon Studio (www.sistudio.com) will work with my hardware and the latest version is likely to have the 16F84 added to the menu. Hope that helps, David -- http://www.man.ac.uk/~mbhstdj
