(Take extreme care).... BULL SHIT >my mistake about about writing to both LPT, >but about LPT numbering my comment stays. >And yes, I need to get a new computer, I know it myself too. >but my software with your hardware programs PIC's on my old >computer too! If your computer's printer ports are not being accessed correctly, you probably have an old mono video card installed. These cards had a builtin printer port with a XT standard address number. When one of these cards is installed, LPT1 gets this XT standard address number and the normal LPT1 "378" gets assigned as LPT2. I have tried the ProPic software using a David Tait clone programmer board, and have not had any problems with it. The ProPic package is the easiest to use programmer I have found. I did not experience any speaker noise or have problems programming, reading and verifying the 16C84 or 16C62X families. While I have not tried programming the entire MicroChip line, and some devices may not yet program properly, I think it is unfair to make such a general condemnation of the product. >have a nice day and fix your bugs! >antti Antti, are you a registered user of ProPic ? I plan to purchase the software within the next 20- 30 days, after which I would be entitled to ask for bug fixes. Unregistered shareware users don't have the right to request fixes/ upgrades. Lighten up, all of this is just ones and zeroes! ------ Steve
