Many people reported having problems in extracting files for my cable tester. Somebody else complained about compiler errors. I am pretty sure they used the wrong tools, since I was able to extract and compile the files _taken from the web site_ without problems. The tester is contained in a gzipped tar archive, which can be decoded with gzip and tar. PD implementations of both exist for most operating systems, including MSDOS. Note that GZIP != ZIP and I doubt that the various ZIP decompressor which DOS people are familiar with can handle GZIPPED files. The sources compile with Timo Rossi's PICASM, for which a pointer exists on my pic page. For this project only, given the number of messages I received, the exploded sources are at the following URL http://www.iet.unipi.it/~luigi/tester/ Note that I will _not_ try to keep this directory up to date, the latest release will always be in the "tester.tgz" archive. I understand that people would prefer ZIP archives and sources which compile with MPASM. However, I don't run DOS/Windows and I would waste too much time in releasing my stuff using DOS tools (and I prefer to spend my time in producing new code). On the other hand, the tools I use are all very simple to use and freely available, so you just need a few minutes to upgrade yourself.
