I believe that's pretty much what the PICMaster probe does, with a
     special chip/package that brings out the address and data lines for
     inspection.

        In a variation on the old saying, "It takes a thief to catch a thief,"
it seems that the best ICE would be the actual device if one could know what it
was actually doing.
