Somewhere it's carved in stone that you should **NEVER** change your system software part way through a project. I made a trivial change to the Win95 system which screwed up the system. Nett result is that I ended up having to re-install Win95. Well so what! you might think. The problem is that now MPLAB won't work!. Some windows don't appear some do, most things just don't work. So after reloading MPLAB a few times. I gave up and threw caution to the winds. I downloaded the new MPLAB 3.10 version.. After installing the new version. I finally got a handle on why MPLAB3.01 wasn't working when booting 3.10 I got the message "BWCC.DLL is an Old version" AHA!. A check revealed more copies of BWCC.DLL scattered around than I care to count. So carefully renaming each one from DOS (it's always in use and you can't rename it from windows) finally MPLAB3.10 now at least starts up. But.... Now MPLAB doesn't see any probes, doesn't even get out of sim mode. After much fiddling and time wasting. I decided, (guessed that maybe I'd lost the plot somewhere by now). Maybe the MPXXXX.DLL's were different in the new version. So after downloading pmr31000.exe and installing the updated emulator support, things started to settle down again. Everything is now just fine, (I think) but be warned don't make system software changes during a project! Next thing.. I've got some chips to program.. what was that about 3.10 being incompatable with PicStart?.....I hope not? I think I'll use the DOS version.
