For any of you using the Baradine Micro Burner, Beware! Do not use the O command (program config. fuses) on any new pic devices with non erasable code protect bits. Theoretically we should be able to program the new A devices by including the fuses in the code, but I'm still waiting for relacements for my 74A/JW paperweights to find out. Baradine is working on new firmware and thinks he'll have a fix in "a couple weeks". Why is a long story, I love Pics, but Microchip really blew it with this one. Apparently, the 5X devices prefer to have those "unused" upper code protect bits as zeros. Now if you apply that old standard to a 74A you've destroyed your chip. While I'm ranting does anyone know why the power up timer enable bit has been inverted on the new A chips? Was there a reason or is is just a demented plot to make us feel bad at thier expense? I remember someone suggesting X-rays for erasing OTP devices. Did anything come of that? Should I take my 74As to the dentist? :-) Have Fun! -Otmar- ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Otmar Ebenhoech Electric Vehicle Components Ltd.
