I apologize in advance if this topic has already been beaten to death. I just got started using Picstart Plus and encountered a lot of problems getting communications going. I've looked in various FAQs for answers, but could only find Microchip suggestions about looking in Control Panel, System, Device Mgr, Ports, Com Ports, Resources relating to this subject, along with the phrase 'users of Windows 95 should have no problems.' The PS Plus does not work with the serial ports I've tried on 2 of the 3 computers I have here: 1) P-75 desktop running W95, Mouse on COM1, Modem on COM4, COM2 available moving the mouse to COM2 and trying COM1 makes no difference 2) Compaq Aero notebook running W95 with PS/2 mouse, COM1 available The PS Plus DOES work on this computer, which is normally for my childrens' use: 3) 486-66 desktop running W95, Mouse on COM1, COM2 available, no modem All of the ports on 1, 2, 3 work fine with the mouse, so I believe that the ports are all OK. The fact that the PSP works with 3) indicates to me that it's not defective. The driver versions and port locations are the same for all. So, what is the problem? Any clues will be greatly appreciated. I do NOT want to continue to use my childrens' computer, with its 14" monitor, AND, I must be able to use the notebook on the road. -- Paul Mathews, consulting engineer AEngineering Co. optoeng@whidbey.com non-contact sensing and optoelectronics specialists 360 730 2058 -- Paul Mathews, consulting engineer AEngineering Co. optoeng@whidbey.com non-contact sensing and optoelectronics specialists
