Hi all,

I'm investigating a way to measure the distance between two pillars/tracks
that guide a cage
down a mine shaft (resolution 1mm).  Intending to use '84 PIC. The cage
moves down the mine shaft at +-5 m/s, and thus contact type of sensors
would be out of consideration.  Could
anybody please point me in a direction as to do these measurements, and if
somebody maybe has some code that i could modify/addapt to do the job, i'd
be intrested.
