The Philips part is PCA8516 *Stand alone OSD* (OSD for On Screen Display? ) They sent me the complete data sheets by mail and guess it can be also dowloaded from their web page (http://www.semiconductors.philips.com) Interfaces to a CPU via I2C (400Kbaud) or 3 wire serial interface ( 1Mbaud) for data/command transfer. Characters can be displayed at different sizes and positions, make it blinking, etc. There is no graphich display capability as far as I understand. The chip is designed to be used in camcorder applications or high end TV. Would be nice to play with such a thing ! ;-) Luis Fernandez Cormenzana RadioBit Sistemas, S.L.
