There are other differences, the 16C64 has less PWM outputs. If you are under 2K and not using these peripherials, then the 16C64 can be used as a replacement. I often mix the devices during development myself. Also consider the 16C65, this is a more direct replacement of the 17C74. However it would probably be more expensive than the 16C64 and I have heard the 16C65 is full of bugs. Check it out anyway. Jim
