Awhile back someone recommended a good practical text on digital
control systems, including PID control theory and application.  I
can't find it in my archive.  I need to do some fine response tuning
on a PID loop, and theory and practice aren't quite matching up.
Sound familiar?

Any suggestions on a sound mathematical text?
