Hullo all; I am building a home security alarm as a beginner's exercise. My design uses an R/C timebase running at 32KHz. I was hoping to divide this down to input 1 second pulses to the RTCC input of a PIC16C57 and just use some counting subroutines to derive wait/delay/on times since it seemed to me a bit of an overkill to be running at 4MHz, and use lots of waiting routines. There is, however, an "XL" suffix on the chips I have in stock. 1. Does this mean that they won't operate with R/C? 2. Can the PIC's operate down as low as 32KHz using R/C? Thanx. **************************************************************************** Ken Parkyn email: K.Parkyn@sct.gu.edu.au Electronics Workshop phone: (07) 3875 7289 Division of Science and Technology fax: (07) 3875 7656 Griffith University Nathan QLD 4111 Australia Office: Science 2 Room -1.17 ****************************************************************************
