The diff between the 61 and 62x is chip area. The 61's are 71's with the a/d disabled, but the same chip. The 62x use a much smaller chip area (different die), i.e. no a/d space on chip, thus in long run will be cheaper (in my openion), besides its other advantages. More reasons why you should are: Brownout included on 16C62x *MUCH* Better code protection 16C62x are much closer to the 16C55x which are likely to be cheaper again.
