We frequently seem to be glueing eg serial-in parallel-out chips to our
16C84 projects to get enough IO pins. My (accountant's) wish-list for
18C8x includes an extra 8-bit port; 16C85 ?

We are concerned about reports of code security being defeatable with
this chip and being a relatively new reader of this list (Hi all!) I
haven't seen any official advice that the code security has been
improved yet; anyone know please? Else add that improvement to our
wish-list.
