Mark:

BSP stands for "British Straight Pipe".  NPT, by the way, doesn't
mean "National Pipe Thread", it means "National Pipe - Tapered".

Thread pitch is NOT the same, but is close enough that you can run
an appropriately-sized NPT tap through the BSP hole and get adequate
results.
