the question is a little bit off-topic, but could also be made with a pic :-)

A friend of mine has the problem, that he wants to make his keyboard
(producer: GEM) faster. In fact, the keyboard uses a standard 1.44"
diskdrive to store sound-files. The loading of these files takes about 1
minute (very slow, if you have to play at a concert).

Our idea is, that we change the disk-drive with a fully hardware -
compatible harddisk, that emulates one or many
diskettes (with switching between the various disks).

My question is:

Is there any solution, which could speed up that slow loading and / or
anables the keyboard to use a harddisk like an diskdrive (with for instance
100 disks stored on one harddrive) without changing any firmware in the
keyboard.
An existing produkt were the preferable solution.
