The AMD chip is the 7910 or 7911.  The 7910 is limited to 1200 baud.  Beware
of designing in these chips as supply is very erratic and at the moment
there is a shortage of these devices (again).

Beware of any modem chip that is aimed at the mainstream market (PC's)
because the manufacturers discontinue them as soon as they have a fater
version available.

Rockwell seem to keep some of their slower chips on the market for a long time.
