Hello all: This is my first posting to the group after reading it daily for the last couple of months. I hope some of you will give me a hand with what may seem to be a silly request. I've just built a 16C84 programmer and would like to test it but don't have any code to try it with. Would someone please do the incredible favour of writing a little program (using MPASM) that will set a couple of port bits (so I can monitor LEDs), declare a couple of variables, and read in a byte from a group of switches? Once I see how this is done, I can figure out the rest from there and, more importantly, verify the operation of the programmer (instead of wondering if the program itself is incorrect). I'm quite well versed and experienced with the 8031/51 microcontroller as well as the Motorola 6802 family but am (obviously) just starting out with the PIC line. It seems remarkably easy to put together a simple development system for the 16C84 in comparison to the above mentioned processors so I can see my department using the PICs for quite a few of our new projects. Thanks for any help you can provide. Mike Thompson
