Thats what I have ended up doing. To try and cut down the intermediate
bit name typing I have ended up as follows

        cblock
RX_BUF
r1
r2
r3
r4
r5
r6
r7
r8
r9
        endc

Ends up being useful to identify bytes when using MPSIM or the emulator
also!
