Well I'm not a crystal expert, but have been burned enough times to
make me crystal wary.  I believe that the series resonance mode
crystal will oscillate at a slightly lower frequency when placed in
a parallel circuit.  The difference should be slight, perhaps on the
order of 0.1% (this is an 'educated' guess).
