I had a thought of getting the best of both worlds in my design, low power consumption and performance. I'm going to try a two speed oscillator using an RC network. During low demand times, use the default R & C. During more demanding times, place another resistor in paralell in the newtwork to increase speed through an i/o pin on the PIC. To me this would work fine if an RC network is feasible (timing accurary not required). This would also avoid the 18ms delay in the wakeup of the PIC in sleep and can reduce external hardware in some applications. I was wondering if anyone tried something like this.
