Hi all, I have been following your threads with regards to purchasing pics
in Europe, USA, and Australia.

Since I live in South East Asia area, namely Indonesia at present, I source
most of my parts in Singapore.  The  name of the New Microchip Distributor

Gates has been very cooperative in supplying me with PIC 94/95 and 95/96
databooks along with the 94/95 embedded control handbook.  When I travelled
to Singapore recently, in order to maximise my limited time in Singapore, (I
was in Singapore for Comdex-Asia, Oct 26-28), I sent a fax to Frankie Tan T.
H., in advance, for information on PIC 16C62XX and PICs available in
Singapore along with single unit prices.  He provided me a sample of a
16C84-10P, as well as quoted me (October 28, 95), the following PICs
available in Singapore, and single unit prices:

I retrieved the Digi-Key catalog pages relevant to PICs, by ftp, and
compared the prices.  These prices are quite good!  I firmly believe in
trying to source my components locally rather than via long distance.  That
way if I receive a faulty chip, I can return it promptly!

I also applaud any means to stop the spams, I also notice many people
sending a message to piclist (and of course out to every person on the
list), trying to sign
off of the list.  I received the following instructions when I signed up:

You may leave  the list at any  time by sending a "SIGNOFF  PICLIST" command
to LISTSERV@MITVMA.BITNET (or LISTSERV@MITVMA.MIT.EDU).

If  you send a "SET  PICLIST ACK NOREPRO" command,  LISTSERV will mail
you a short acknowledgement that it has received your message.

This is much better than getting the entire message bounced back at
you....(it also reduces the amount of non pic related data you receive)
