I'm having just the same problem as you. I have the picstart16b1 and I need software which is compatible with the hardware from picstart16b1 and this software must be able to write to the eeprom memory on the pic16c84 chip. If you get the solution to this problem, please mail me. Or if you get the software that works with the picstart16b1... or any info at all... please mail me. PS! I got the program Promate 3000 which has support for the eeprom programming, but I don't know for sure if it's compatible with the picstart16b1 hardware device. But another 'but' is that this program has an option called 'Download Firmware'..... So there is a possibility that this could make the program compatible with the hardware. I have sent email to Microchip about this, but I haven't recived any answer from them........ Hope we could share some information on this.......
