Ignoring the spammer is nice in theory, however we are dealing with a little different creature than you are used to in ham radio. The spammers we are dealing with know have found out that they can send one message to a listserver and have it propogate to all the mailing lists. What they do is get the names of every listserver they can find and then send their advertisments to all of them. They are not reading the lists. To expect everyone on hundreds, maybe even thousands of lists to ignore them is obviously unrealistic. They don't even seem to mind if they lose their accounts, as long as they get a few orders and make money. My solution to the problem is as follows: 1. Do away with mass mailings from listservers, or at least make sure it is the listserver admin doing them. 2. Turn off messages from people not subscribed to the list. 3. Have the option to send a copy of your letter back to you so you always see your message. The first 2 filter out the non-dedicated spammer, the last one makes sure he loses his account immediately by filling up his providers mail spool. Roger
