Various people wrote about the I2C specs >> Does anyone know where to find the specs on the I2C protocol ? ... >Philips has published an I2C-bus specification: > 'The I2C-bus and how to use it (including specifications)' >The latest version of this spec. is from january 1992 (I think so). >You can get it from any Philips Semiconductors representation or direct >from Philips, 6500 MD Eindhoven, The Netherlands. > My local Philips data book rep tells me the speck is out of print but has been scheduled for a reprint for the first time since 1989 this september. Local availability is expected in November. Philips data books cost between US$5 and 20 here so I think I will get a copy when they become available just incase I have to talk i2C. >Maybe someone knows a WWW site where this spec. is published ? Philips semiconductors have a web site but it consisted of promotional info mostly when I checked it 3 weeks ago. I t have the URL at work and can post it if I required. > Try to get hold of the following data books from your local Philips > distributor, they have lots of information.... > > IC2a - I2C-bus compatible ICs [# 9398 165 50011] > IC2b - I2C-bus compatible ICs [# 9398 161 30011] The local data sheet pricelist from philips has now got 3 data books in the series you quote. The document numbers have also changed. The book mumbers have changed (on the locally compiled price list) to IC02A, IC02B and IC02C. They are all video products linear and control IC's. This is what I2C was developed for after all. Access bus is apparently an implementation of a moderately fast I2C bus that is going to be the new PC interface standard. Information about Acess bus might therefore be relevant to I2C. At the local Electrical technology trade fair (Electrex & Instrumentation 95) I happened upon the local Microchip Stand (not the local component sales agency but the factory rep) and saw that they had a document describing the integration of microchip products onto the Access BUS. I did not have a chance to read thedoc yet (only 2 sides) but will check it out in the morning. -- Kalle Pihlajasaari kalle@data.co.za ( soon kalle@ip.co.za ) Interface Products Box 15775, Doornfontein, 2028, South Africa +27 (11) 402-7750 Fax: +27 (11) 402-7751 ( soon 402-7723 )
