Thanks a stack to all those who helped me out.  It seems that it can be
done.  I find that this is an area that is a little fague in the PIC DATA
BOOK.  I have decided that the digital noise that the PIC causes while
running will have very little effect on accuracy of an 8-bit A/D conversion
with a 6volt range (+-3v).

I am interested to know to what extent the MPSIM software supplied with the
PICSTART 16C kit can accurately simulate the 16C74 mcu. - In the
documentation, the '74 is not mentioned as a supported chip yet the MPSIM is
supplied with the 16C kit :-(
