CAN stands for

 Controller
 Area
 Network

It's a hmm, high sophisticated serial communication protocol.
Mostly it's realized in hardware, 'cause it's a pretty cool task
to handle it by software.
It's organized as a multi master bus, it's speed is up to 1MBaud.
