(1) The PICSTART 16B supports 16C61 today. Open up the software and look at the "About", you should see the 16C61 in it. There is no need for anything else. (2) PICSTART and PICMASTER are 2 different products. The first is a programmer, the latter is an in-circuit emulator. You can't compare the two.
