Put MPALC gently in the dust bin and change over to MPASM
ASAP. It's free, you can get it off the MCHIPBBS, and unlike
MPALC, it has on-going support from Microchip. Plus - it's
a better assembler.

Just in case, what editor are you using for your .asm file?
